  • Hey everyone. Since we are all giving updates on our relatives, yesterday my dad tells me he is moving to Illinois and my sister has apparently been orchestrating this. It took me a day to calm down and today I called her. Long story short now my dad is going to be going up there. I do think it will be much better for him. We went to the Neurologist today and he got a great checkup. He just needs to keep up his physical exercise and working on balance. Dad will be going to a place where his best friend is and will have a room right next door to him. It will be independent living but he will have a life alert and all his meals taken care of, housekeeping and my sister going to take care of his laundry and giving him his meds. He has been here permanently since mid 1990's so it will be an adjustment for me, but I will be getting a break and will be traveling up to Illinois a lot more regularly. He knows a lot of people that are in this place and it is our hometown so there are other friends and relatives to visit so that will be good. Not sure exactly when this is going to occur as the lady who is vacating the room where dad will go hasn't left yet. She is moving to AZ and gave notice that she was leaving Sep 28 and she is still there. Dad ready to go right now, but I need to give 30 days notice and we are going on a cruise the end of Oct beginning of Nov so I am thinking mid Nov I'll be taking him up there. Have to get movers too. I'll keep you posted on that

On to good news, hubby going hiking on Sunday up north for two weeks....during our anniversary ....that's okay haha. Going out to dinner Sat and the cruise is our present. Anyway, my childhood girlfriend is coming down to stay next week so going to go out and have a ton of fun with her in between Dad's Dr. Appt and Bingo that is.

I know it will be an adjustment for you but it sounds like a good place for him to be. Just celebrate your anniversary a couple of weeks later while you are on the cruise. Sounds like a fun anniversary. Enjoy your time with your friend and Bingo. I use to play all the time with my Mother. She loved Bingo.

  • FYI.. Just Thought I would give EVERYONE this update here... NEW Article out on The Hollywood Reporter this afternoon... Here's the IMPORTANT snipet from it...
Jessica Graf and Cody Nickson are heading to the starting line in New York to race for $1 million. The Amazing Race is adding another Big Brother couple to its roster.

Showmance duo and fan favorites Jessica Graf and Cody Nickson are moving from the Big Brother house to the Amazing Race starting line.

It will be a live event, as CBS is inviting fans of the duo (otherwise known as Jody) to witness them take off at Washington Square Park (Fifth Avenue and Waverly Place) in New York on Sunday, Oct. 1. The public start will begin at 11:30 a.m. and as of now Jessica and Cody are the only names being revealed for The Amazing Race's upcoming 30th season.

    • Cody's answers to TAR pre-race interview had me cracking up from the interview on THR.com Guess TAR casting approached him about being on TAR while he was in Jury House and he said YES as long as Jessica was up for it. So he knew before Finale night of BB19, he was heading to race on TAR.. Which leads me to believe the REST in the Jury House found out that Jessica and him were going to be on TAR. OOOooooooh to have seen some of their faces when they learned that... (cough) Raven, Matt, Alex and Jason. WE were ROBBED on some GREAT Jury House footage this season!!! lmao

Well...good for them! I mean that. However, I do not want them to win, nor am I going to cheer for them to win. I believe that Jess is savvy enough to know that as long as she is in a showmance with Cody, they will continue to get the media coverage and be able to book certain "gigs" with the 2 of them to publicly appear and stay in the lime-light. Jess knows this, and has been a very busy bee trying to book certain public appearences for the 2 of them ever since she was evicted from the house. I truly believe she is just taking advantage of the opportunities right now. Time will tell!

    • Hello (((( BBU Family))))

Doing 👌 can't find the emoji guy kicking his feet in the air. aka "still alive and kickin'"

🏳 Not surrendering to life throwing it's best at me, yet!!

💫 However, life being life haa got me spinning and off balance. Praying it settles down soon or that I can at least get a better handle on my Dad and his Dementia. It's progressing rapidly and the learnimg curve is steep. Last 2 days he has recognized me and we had short conversations, very short. Enough on that right now or I'll ... just don't want to go there right now.

🌠 Off to bed before the sun start peaking over the horizon. Have appointments with attorney this morning.

This is so hard. Deep breaths. We did have 2 good days which I'm grateful for. This is so hard.

Good to know some are still keeping us updated on you and your families. Healing thoughts and prayers to you all. I'll be back after attorney meetings.

Thank you for your kind words. Shelley

My grandmother had alzheimers / dementia. I KNOW what you are going through! It is the HARDEST disease to cope with. Thank your lucky stars you had some good days of rememberance with your loved one. You learn to cherish those times.

Me, too. Thanks Starshine. And also to Puerto Rico, where according to He-Who-I-Can't-Name did not experience a "real catastrophe" like Katrina. sigh.

    • Hello my wonderful BBU fam hope everyone is doing well? I'm "out of the loop" here as I've not had time or a chance to really read around the board and see what I may have missed with everyone but I'll be doing that as soon as I post this but I'm gonna go ahead now and give out loads of love and hugs and prayers where needed in advance ❤️

Ok, soooo...the saga that is my life continues 😂 (Warning: Shan Novel ahead! 😁)

Y'all might have seen from a quick peek in post I made here earlier in the week over in the Survivor forum, that last weekend I took a pretty bad fall while in downtown Raleigh at the Blue Grass Festival with hubby? Got banged up pretty good..most hurt was my left knee/leg (well and my pride of course 😂). I *thought* about going to the ER that night (especially a few hours after when it looked horrible and the pain level was pretty high) but chose to just ride it out and see how things went. Over the last week since, it hasn't really "gotten better" even though it did start to *look* a little better, if that makes sense? Unfortunately that "better" only lasted maybe a little more than a day and then the last two-three days have been pretty rough and painful...like even clothing or the sheets on the bed touching it had me almost in tears! Last night, the swelling (that hasn't really gone away/completely down anyway) got way worse again (almost to the point it was right after) and nothing I did helped. There's been plenty of massive/ugly bruising/bruising phases going on but last night some pretty "interesting" bruising started all the way down from the knee and around pretty much the whole calf and now on top of my foot as well as the inside of my ankle 😳 I've not been able to fully straighten or fully bend it at all since falling. Soooooo... I finally gave in and went in to have it checked out. The doctor was concerned with how badly the swelling/bruising was (especially so long out from the fall and newly developing still) and also said she didnt want to rule out possible DVT so she sent me to the ER (as they were not equipped there to test for clots) ...so off we went 😔 ER doc wanted to rule out clot(s) as well but initial examination had her convinced it was going to be that I had a (pretty severely) injured my ligaments, kneecap and/or meniscus.

So, they checked for clots (none thank God!!) and did X-rays (nothing broken thank God!!) and doc reached the conclusion that she was even more sure her initial suspicion/diagnosis was the correct one. So, I was sent home with meds, crutches, wrapped and strict instruction for lots of "RICE" treatment and a referral to an orthopedic specialist.. oh Joy! lol

I'm super thankful that it wasn't any of the more serious possibilities ..although the doc did say she suspects the injury is pretty severe. I've "been there, done that" with the ligament and meniscus injury thing (suffered the same type injuries from a car accident many years ago and have had issues because of that as well as surgeries on one leg) ...not something I'm thrilled to be dealing with again (on my only remaining "good" leg/knee no less!) but again I'm just thankful it's not something even worse!

Needless to say, hubby has been fussing over me (even more than he already was all week) and insisting that I *will* follow doctor's orders with the rest and such and just learn to "chill" and deal with being the care "receiver" for a while as opposed to the "giver" role that is mine ... I'll admit, that's not something I easily deal with but I'm doing my best to be a good "patient"

Now it's basically the "hurry up and wait" game until insurance sends the authorization through to the ortho doc and I can get in to be seen and go from there.

If you suffered through ALL that novel ^^^ (lol)..bless you 😁 ..I appreciate you! And even if ya didn't or just skimmed and got the "gist" that's perfectly fine and understandable and I appreciate you too 😂

Hopefully I will get to the ortho sooner than later and start getting "fixed up" ...but until then, I'll probably still be "MIA" here more than not :/ but will check in as much as I can! For those waiting for me to get the show on the road with the Survivor Fantasy Game, I'm planning to get caught up on the shows (perfect time/opportunity since I have nothing I'm "allowed" to do as much as rest/lay up in bed and watch stuff lol) over the weekend so I'll post our first round for that ASAP tomorrow or Sunday!

{{{{{hugs all around}}}}} will check in again later!!

Wowza Shan!!!!! Glad you finally went to get your leg checked out! I read the whole thing too! I kept thinking....do you think you are Christmas Joy or something ....I’m picturing you scooting around your house on that little leg scooter thing she used. I’ll bet Max is happy though that now he can take care of you somewhat. Take it easy. And please keep us posted.

    • Are there any BBU'ers in Sonoma, CA area?

oops! Reason for that private question is due to the fires. Not sure anyone is west of me but may have family/friends there.

Thought & prayers to all who are affected by / dealing with the fire. Thanks to first responders, volunteers & Red Cross as well for their relief work.

I have relatives in North Calf. but the fire is not near them (yet.) I toured several wineries in Napa. Beautiful country. My thought and prayers are with all of them.

    • Hello BBU'ers!

Hope you guys are enjoying your down time from a crazy season of Big Brother. I know that the ending - or even the beginning - or the middle - wasn't exactly what everyone was hoping for ... but we made it through and we're happy we did it with all of you.

Now that the dust has settled a little bit from Season 19, I find myself looking forward to Big Brother Celebrity and all the crazy drama that it can bring.

      What about you?

Please know how much we appreciate those of you who helped support BBU via your donations throughout Season 19.

As we move through this off-season - before we get to #BBCelebrity - we are reaching out for any support that any of you can offer to help with the continued expenses that it takes to keep all this up and running.

As it usually happens, after the BB season ends, most of you pull away and get back in the groove of "normal everyday life" ..... we get it!

But... we just want to remind you that we're still here for you !!!

Check in the Survivor Discussion, check out Shan's Survivor Fantasy Game, and keep up to date on what else is coming around the reality corner with The Amazing Race with Cody and Jessica and then onto this Celebrity edition of BB.

Any support you can give us greatly appreciated and we're keeping the donation button ladder going now during the off season and into the BB Celebrity Season... so climb on up : )

Thanks in advance for any help!

Thoughts and prayers to everyone who is having to deal with fires, hurricanes, trips and falls ( SHAN ) and you know all that life throws at you... don't you just want to throw it back some days? I know I do.

OMG, first laugh all day. What a wonderful future quote! With this BBU gang alone, it could get a lot of mileage. Thanks @Lexie

~smee~ sending Ya lots of hugs 😘

    • Just checking in. I am sorry I do not do that more often. Update on my brother. He ended up in the hospital for a second time (a short visit this time). He had his last cancer treatment yesterday. His blood counts are way down so he will be going in to get shots and fluids for the next few days.

Went to Disney World with my son, daughter-in-law and grand daughter. Had a wonderful time watching Willow's face. She loves it there. This old lady had a hard time keeping up with them. Thankfully, they would take a break every afternoon so Willow would rest. They did not know I needed the rest more than Willow.

I hope everyone is doing great. I miss all of you and BB. I will try to check in more ofter. Take care all.

      • Just heard a rumor going on in the movie biz that after the Amazing Race is over, Cody has been approached to play Mark Ruffalo's younger brother in an upcoming movie. Apparently it's just a very small part. Now let's see if Cody accepts the offer. Considering acting goals are more Jesdica's thing not sure he would sign on. But I could see Jessica pushing him to just do it; even if it's just for the experience type of thing.
